Northern Skies Outpost Cabin is a privately-owned cabin located on a remote lake deep in the Mississagi Provincial Park. It is accessible only by hiking over moderate terrain and canoeing two lakes. The hike in takes about two hours – minus rest stops, exploring and picnics!
No portaging is required, as two canoes are cached on each lake.
The cabin itself is a cozy and comfortable hand-built A-frame cottage on a sandy beach with a wood-fired sauna. It is the only cabin on the lake and the isolated wilderness setting means there is no electricity or running water.
Water jugs filled in the lake for drinking, candles and gas lanterns for light, a coleman stove for cooking and woodstove for warmth make this the perfect escape for those looking for back-to-basic rustic comfort.
We look forward to sharing this rare outdoor experience with adventurous nature lovers who have a solid background in hiking, canoeing, and who aren’t afraid to spend time alone in the outdoors. Guided treks are available upon request.
Very interested. Love the site. Will be showing this to my family tomorrow for them to drool over the idea lol.
We have openings this summer if you are interested in bringing your family up Ron!
My husband and I just returned from the most wonderful 5 days in this cabin. No electricity, no technology, no other people in the vicinity–fabulous! The cabin is comfortable, and absolutely well-stocked with what we needed, and the scenery was incredible. We totally recommend this cabin. We hope to make a trip back next year!
